New Academic Job Placements for CERGE-EI PhD Candidates

We are delighted to announce key academic placements of our CERGE-EI PhD candidates over the past few months.

Sinara Gharibian has secured a postdoctoral position at IOS Regensburg through her successful participation in the international academic job market—a unique and valued component of our PhD in Economics program for top-performing students. Sinara is an applied economist with research interests in economic history, political economy, gender economics, and development economics. She also appeared on the Talking Economics podcast, where she discussed how memories shape human behavior, particularly in the context of political decision-making.

Trang Tranh Tran will be joining Yamanashi Gakuin University in Japan. Her research focuses on labor economics and development economics.

Flavio Malnati is joining the Bratislava University of Economics and Business, Department of Economic Policy. His research explores long-term economic development, economic history, and geographical economics, with a special focus on the role of the state in shaping pre-industrial development.

All three PhD candidates participated in CERGE-EI’s Student Mobility program, conducting part of their dissertation research at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Columbia University, and Northwestern University.
